Should
I use a solicitor to write my Will?
There is nothing wrong with using a solicitor
to write your Will, they will do the same job as a professional Will
writer like myself although you may find that their fees are usually
less competitive and their service is generally less convenient in that
you need to take time of work to visit them during office hours.
A Will does not have to be written by
a solicitor provided that it is correctly worded who actually wrote
your Will is completely irrelevant. Furthermore to be legally binding
a Will does not have to be witnessed by a solicitor either - it can
be witnessed by any two competent people who are not beneficiaries or
executors or directly related to a beneficiary.
Sometimes there are circumstances
where I will recommend you use a solicitor, one such time would be if
there is a very high likelihood of someone challenging your Will and
the estate you have is large, although my Wills would be worded similar
or the same I cannot provide a court defense of your Will so its best
at this stage that the solicitor who writes the Will also defends it
in court.
